Final Lane Shift complete!
Traffic patterns has been restored pre hurricane Irene, with only landscaping operations left to be completed early next spring.
August of 2011 two separate storm system devastated the area, including a category 1 hurricane, Irene which killed 45 and caused $7.3 billion in damages. Aproxamently 10-15 inches of rain filled the adjacent waterways to capacity leaving the ensuing storm surge nowhere to go but over the river banks.
A swollen Allen Fresh Run became more than the aging bridge foundation on MD 234 Buds Creek Road to handle, and gave way leaving one vehicle submerged.
A temporary Acrow Bridge was erected, while the MD State Highway Administration could go to work designing the final replacement bridge that Greenbridge construction has completed on time and under budget.
